Designed for pharmaceutical, chemical, and food-grade wet processes requiring CIP/SIP readiness.
Why Source Doebritz Wet Granulation Mill
Global procurement managers and process engineers choose Doebritz for ISO 9001:2025 certified manufacturing, CNC precision machining centres, and OEM supply flexibility. Our competitive advantages include:
- Ultra-Low Residual Seal Leakage: Double-acting mechanical seal with buffer fluid circulation keeps leakage below 0.5 ml/hr, guaranteeing contamination-free wet product.
- Rapid Changeover Design: Swing-away housing and quick-release stator cartridges reduce cleaning and screen change time by 70% compared to conventional wet mills.
- Explosion-Proof Drivetrain: ATEX Ex II 2GD c T4 certified motor with integrated thermal protection, suitable for ethanol, acetone, and IPA-based wet granulations.
- Global OEM Capability: Custom flanges (DIN/ANSI/JIS), FDA-compliant 316L wetted parts, and full traceability documentation – delivered with 4-6 week lead time.

Housing & Rotor-Stator Engineering
The Doebritz Wet Granulation Mill features a fully split 316L stainless steel housing with no dead zones, polished to Ra ≤ 0.4 μm for rapid cleaning. The 4-stage rotor-stator arrangement comprises a coarse feeding impeller, medium-shear granulating rotor, high-shear milling stage, and final discharge stator. Rotors are CNC-machined from Duplex 2205 or Hastelloy C22 upon request. Outboard mounted heavy-duty bearings with labyrinth seals isolate the product zone from lubricants, while the cartridge single/double mechanical seal (DIN EN 12756) operates water-flushed or product-lubricated. Operating pressure up to 6 bar(g) and temperature range from -20°C to +150°C.

Heavy-Duty Application Scenarios
Continuous Wet Granulation – API & Excipient Blends
Pharmaceutical manufacturers integrate Doebritz mills directly after high-shear mixers to convert wet powder mass into uniform granules (0.8-1.2 mm) for fluid bed drying. Our rotor tip speeds from 8 to 23 m/s enable precise control over granule density and friability.
Slurry De-Agglomeration – Pigments & Catalysts
In chemical plants, the Doebritz mill breaks down hard agglomerates in 40-60% solid slurries without temperature rise. The self-pumping rotor design eliminates the need for an upstream feed pump when viscosity ≤ 50,000 cP.
Food & Confectionery Wet Milling
Use the mill inline after crystallization tanks for sugar-alcohol based masses, chocolate premixes, and fruit concentrate slurries. CIP system compatibility with 90°C alkaline and acid cleaning cycles ensures full microbiological control.

Frequently Asked Questions
- 1. What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ) for Doebritz OEM wet granulation mills?
- The Doebritz MOQ is 1 unit for standard ATEX mills. For non-standard metallurgy (Hastelloy, SMO 254) or custom stator screens, MOQ starts at 2 units. We also offer a rental test mill for 30-day validation at your facility.
- 2. Can you supply the mill with different flange standards and inlet/outlet orientations?
- Absolutely. Doebritz provides DIN PN10/16, ANSI 150#, and JIS 10K flanges as standard. Inlet/outlet orientation can be 180° inline, 90° right-angle, or custom angles – no engineering surcharge for OEM partners.
- 3. Is the mill suitable for ATEX Zone 0 (gas) and Zone 20 (dust) simultaneously?
- Yes, our Ex II 2GD c T4 rating covers Zone 1 gas and Zone 21 dust environments. For Zone 0/20 we recommend the Doebritz Ex II 1/2D c T4 certified mill with double mechanical seal and inert gas purge.
- 4. What is the typical lead time and do you provide FAT witnessing?
- Standard lead time is 4 weeks for cast 316L models, 6 weeks for Hastelloy. We welcome customers to witness the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) at our CNC machining and assembly facility (Germany/Shanghai). Full test report with particle size analysis is supplied.
- 5. Can the mill handle high-temperature (+120°C) and viscous (80,000 cP) wet masses?
- Yes, the Doebritz mill is jacketed for heating/cooling media up to 150°C. For viscosity > 50,000 cP we recommend the DR-Feeder auger attachment to positively feed the rotor entry. Standard mechanical seals are silicon carbide with EPDM/FKM/Viton options.
